Rules for Life
Following the death of her mother, Izzie begins to live by her mother's clearcut rules for life. Life is generally good for Izzie because she has an amicable relationship with her father, has a kind and reliable boyfriend and is pleased that her brother has overcome his drug addiction. Circumstances, however, change for the worse when Izzie's father remarries and she has to share him with her pregnant stepmother. Also, Izzie becomes aware that her brother has traded drug addiction for alcoholism. Suddenly, Izzie needs more than just her mother's simple rules! It is a friend from the Seniors' Centre and her stepmother who eventually help Izzie to understand that families are about much more than just a biological relationship.
