Outcome
Investigate legal and ethical aspects of online interactions.
Indicators
(a) Identify conventional practices (e.g., including the file path for a URL, citing the source) for sharing content, such as downloading video and posting images of others, in digital environments.
(b) Discuss the benefits and limitations of user authentication techniques to prevent or allow access to resources.
(c) Explain the concept of Open Content (Creative Commons) licensing.
(d) Search for online Open Content images and name their sources.
(e) Conduct a reverse image search to find the source of an image.
(f) Construct citations for sources of online information, including digital media.
(g) Examine laws surrounding online interactions, including using information and downloading and sharing digital media.
(h) Provide examples of laws that have emerged or evolved because of changes in the digital world (e.g., illegal file sharing, sharing of intimate photographs without consent).
(i) Recognize that laws change in response to emerging issues with online communication.
(j) Explain that the social, cultural, economic, and political conditions of the past played and continue to play a significant role in both the reality of the present and the reality they have yet to shape.
(k) Assess one’s behaviours and practices with respect to ethics and laws surrounding online interactions.
