Outcome
Create complex spreadsheets and workbooks that facilitate analysis and manipulation of specific data.
Indicators
(a) Explain circumstances in which a specific function (e.g., financial, logical, text, date and time, lookup and reference, math and trigonometry, statistical) might be used with a set of data.
(b) Differentiate between the application of relative and absolute cell references in a spread sheet.
(c) Include components such as hyperlinks, graphics, graphs and sparklines to increase the efficacy of spreadsheets.
(d) Demonstrate reordering and renaming of sheet tabs within workbooks to match worksheet conventions.
(e) Insert headers and footers that provide relevant information (e.g., date, file name or source, page number, document ownership).
(f) Link information in one worksheet to another worksheet in the same workbook and from one workbook to another.
(g) Link information from a spreadsheet to another application such as a word document.
(h) Query and filter and sort data within a spreadsheet.
(i) Apply conditional formatting to enable visual analysis of data in spreadsheets.
(j) Investigate how various advanced functions (e.g., SUMIF, SUMIFS, AverageIF, SUMPRODUCT) can be used to manipulate data.
(k) Use advanced functions to process information in multi-sheet workbooks (e.g., keep and analyze statistics for the basketball team; maintain financial records for a term loan).
(l) Use lookup tables to present information such as variable income tax rates, volume discounts offered by retailers and wholesalers, or shipping charges based on weight or quantity.
(m) Apply financial functions such as payment, future value of money, present value, rate and return to scenarios related to loans, credit cards, investments and other money management issues to a spreadsheet.
(n) Apply advanced functions such as CHOOSE, ROUND, COUNT, IF, AND OR, and FALSE to solve complex problems.
(o) Research the features of and uses for pivot tables and charts.
(p) Use pivot tables to summarize large amounts of data and pivot charts to display the data graphically.
(q) Explore the use of macros in a spreadsheet and how they may be created using tools such as Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
(r) Incorporate multi-sheeted workbooks containing advanced functions into other software or applications.
