Outcome
Produce a variety of photographs that exemplify creative composition.
Indicators
(a) Appraise the use of creative composition in a variety of photographs.
(b) Categorize a variety of photographs by genre (e.g., landscape, still life, people).
(c) Shoot photographs that demonstrate a variety of standard framing compositions, including wide, long, full, ¾, medium, head and shoulders, close up and extreme close up.
(d) Shoot photographs using a variety of standard camera angles, including eye level, high angle, low angle, point of view and over the shoulder.
(e) Identify standard rules of composition, including the rule of thirds, focal point, framing, cropping, leading lines, fore/middle/background and balance.
(f) Experiment with creative composition techniques by adjusting focus, shutter speed, depth and pattern.
(g) Shoot a variety of photographs that demonstrate creative composition, using a digital camera such as a single lens reflex or a mobile device.
(h) Develop criteria to assess creative composition in photographs.
(i) Assess the creative composition of one’s own and others’ photographs.
(j) Sort and manage a collection of photographs using computer software.
