(a)	Estimate technical measurements and determine appropriate procedures and materials to refinish and repaint parts of an automobile.
(b)	Prepare a cost estimate of the materials needed to refinish and repaint parts of an automobile.
(c)	Prepare an automobile for refinishing by: assessing imperfections on the automobile and ensuring the surface of the automobile is cleaned with a quality wax and grease remover; analyzing the type of paint, previous and current damage such as flaking, peeling, cracking and repainting, rust, damage from acids and other effects of oxidation; featheredging all broken edges, sanding, rough masking, body filling scratches; priming all bare metal areas by removing waves in body work and repriming areas as needed; and, selecting and applying colour coats using a spray paint booth.
(d)	Practice proper safety techniques when using a sandblaster for metal preparation.
(e)	Apply proper sanding techniques using the appropriate type of sand paper to prepare the surface for painting.
(f)	Describe the use of reducers and thinners in autobody repair.
(g)	Practice proper techniques and safety procedures to use a spray gun (e.g., siphon and gravity fed), air compressor, air hose and air regulator to paint part or all of an automobile.
(h)	Differentiate between the types of spray booths such as a prep station, downdraft, semi-downdraft and cross-draft used in autobody repair.
(i)	Describe the purpose and method of application of different types (e.g., epoxy primer, urethane primer surface, polyester primer, urethane sealer and acid etch) of automotive primers.
(j)	Explain the purpose and method of application of different (e.g., acrylic lacquer, acrylic enamel, polyurethane and base coat/clear coat) types of automotive paints.
(k)	Apply proper techniques to mask an automobile and describe over-masking and under-masking.
(l)	Practise proper safety procedures such as wearing coveralls, rubber gloves and safety glasses and using an appropriate respirator to apply automotive primers, sealers and paints.
(m)	Examine the effects of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) on the environment.
(n)	Implement a plan to design and organize the workspace to prevent work-related injuries when refinishing and repainting an automobile.
