Examine the procedures required to diagnose, service and repair automotive air conditioning systems.

(a) | Identify and follow safe work practices (e.g., check coolant pressure and temperature, be aware of moving components and pressurized refrigerants) when working with automotive air conditioning systems, including maintaining a clean and organized work area. |
(b) | Describe the proper procedures for collection, storage and recycling of refrigerants. |
(c) | Explain potential environmental concerns associated with improper refrigerant collection. |
(d) | Examine regulations and legislation related to automotive air conditioning systems. |
(e) | Describe how to perform common air conditioning system tests (e.g., visual inspection, pressure tests and leak detection) and maintenance procedures (e.g., recharging the system). |
(f) | Describe the procedures for common air conditioning system repairs such as repairing refrigerant leaks and replacing fan belts, fuses, air conditioning compressor, condenser or radiator. |
