Outcome
Overhaul multicylinder engines safely and following correct procedures.
Indicators
| (a) | Identify and follow safe work practices (e.g., be aware of pinch points, hot surfaces, sharp surfaces, moving parts, cleaning agents and fire hazards) when working with multi-cylinder engines, including maintaining a clean and organized work area. |
| (b) | Discuss typical steps involved in overhauling multi-cylinder engines. |
| (c) | Follow appropriate procedures to disassemble and reassemble multicylinder engines. |
| (d) | Identify types of specialized measuring equipment and use appropriate procedures to measure and evaluate engine condition (e.g., clearance, taper and out of round). |
| (e) | Remove and replace gaskets, seals and O-rings. |
| (f) | Inspect and clean engine internal systems. |
| (g) | Tighten fasteners using correct specifications and sequences. |
| (h) | Verify that all components are properly installed and configured. |
| (i) | Perform proper engine start-up and run-in procedures. |
