Explain the purpose and structure of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).

(a) Explain the purpose of electrical codes and regulations.
(b) Identify the organizational structure (e.g., sections, tables, diagrams and appendices) of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
(c) Recognize that Canada and the United States have different electrical codes (i.e., Canadian Electrical Code and the National Electrical Code).
(d) Explain SaskPower’s role related to electrical safety in Saskatchewan including the role of inspectors, electrical permits and interpretations of CEC rules.
(e) Differentiate between jurisdiction specific simplified code books and the CEC.
(f) Recognize that electrical information, whether online or print, may not be applicable in Saskatchewan.
(g) Discuss the relationship between building codes and electrical codes.
