Examine the
characteristics of
various types of
housing.
Indicators
(a) | Compare the characteristics of common detached house types (e.g., bungalow, bi-level, two-storey, split level and 1 ½ storey). |
(b) | Investigate different types of houses found locally, regionally, nationally and globally. |
(c) | Research how zoning bylaws affect choices of housing types. |
(d) | Identify the advantages and disadvantages of different configurations (e.g., apartments, row houses, mobile homes, single family detached dwellings, duplexes, homes on wheels, tiny homes, co-housing) of living units. |
(e) | Examine how the layout of different types of housing influence interior design and decorating options. |
(f) | Design a floor plan for a specific house type. |
(g) | Develop assessment criteria in consultation with peers and instructor to assess floor plan of a specific type of space. |
(h) | Discuss own and peer’s floorplan to provide feedback on the strengths and areas of improvement. |
