(b) | Discuss factors (e.g., strength, durability, performance, aesthetic appearance, maintenance) that influence the choice of building materials. |
(c) | Provide examples of how wood, glass, steel and concrete are used in residential and commercial buildings. |
(d) | Research the characteristics and environmental impact of a variety of materials (e.g., wood, glass, steel, concrete) used in design. |
(e) | Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of building materials such as earth, recycled wood or plastic composite lumber, straw bales, insulating concrete forms and recycled steel. |
(f) | Prepare a cost estimate of materials used to construct or renovate a defined residential or commercial space. |
