Outcome
Analyze appliance, fixture and equipment options for residential and commercial spaces.
Indicators
(a) Identify factors to consider (e.g., client needs, capacity, style, features, quality, energy consumption) when selecting household or commercial appliances, fixtures and equipment.
(b) Research and compare consumer and manufacturing reports when selecting residential or commercial appliances and electronic equipment.
(c) Discuss the costs and benefits of different types (e.g., limited, extended, manufacturer’s) of warranties available when purchasing appliances.
(d) Research the energy consumption of typical residential appliances such as washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, televisions and computers.
(e)

Examine Canadian legislation (e.g., Energy Efficiency Act, Energy Efficiency Regulations) and programs (e.g., ENERGY STAR®) that support energy efficiency in household appliances.

(f) Discuss differences between residential and commercial appliances, fixtures and equipment.
