(a) | Identify factors to consider (e.g., client needs, capacity, style, features, quality, energy consumption) when selecting household or commercial appliances, fixtures and equipment. |
(b) | Research and compare consumer and manufacturing reports when selecting residential or commercial appliances and electronic equipment. |
(c) | Discuss the costs and benefits of different types (e.g., limited, extended, manufacturer’s) of warranties available when purchasing appliances. |
(d) | Research the energy consumption of typical residential appliances such as washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, freezers, refrigerators, televisions and computers. |

Examine Canadian legislation (e.g., Energy Efficiency Act, Energy Efficiency Regulations) and programs (e.g., ENERGY STAR®) that support energy efficiency in household appliances. |
