Indicators
(a) | Review safety procedures as they apply to hand sewing (e.g., focus eyes on the needle, use scissors with caution). |
(b) | Practise intermediate hand sewing techniques (e.g., blind hemming, overcast stitching, ladder stitching, blanket stitching). |
(c) | Practise embroidery stitches (e.g., French knot, chain stitch, sating stitch, split stitch, lazy daisy, feather stitch). |
(d) | Construct a design project that incorporates a variety of embroidery stitches. |
(e) | Inquire into the significance of beadwork in various cultures (e.g., Métis, First Nations, Indian, Middle Eastern). |
(f) | Investigate various beadwork patterns. |
(g) | Practise beading stitches (e.g., back stitch, halo stitch, chain stitch, lace running stitch). |
(h) | Create a simple embroidery or beadwork project (e.g., earrings, moccasins, key chain, necklace). |
