Module 36: Costuming and Theatre Wardrobe (Optional)
Outcome
Create costumes, set pieces or a piece of theatre wardrobe that fulfill the requirements of a production or event.
Indicators
(a) Discuss the functions (e.g., help tell a story, helps actors get into character, change an actor’s appearance) of costuming.
(b) Differentiate between costuming and garment construction.
(c) Examine the wardrobe requirements for the production (e.g., lighting, movement, costume changes, materials budget).
(d) Brainstorm different ways to create costumes considering factors such as available resources, skill level, safety, mobility.
(e) Determine the required fabric and accessories for costume or set piece creation.
(f) Identify alterations required for new or existing costumes.
(g) Create wardrobe accessories for a specific costume.
(h) Construct costumes or set pieces for a production.
