Indicators
(a) | Identify hairstylist services such as shampoo, cut, style and chemically treat hair. |
(b) | Identify esthetician services such as massage, skin care, nail enhancements and make up. |
(c) | Define scope of practice and how it applies to estheticians and hairstylists. |
(d) | Recognize what is appropriate scope of practice for someone who has not received all the necessary training and certification. |
(e) | Explore different steps found within scope of practice (e.g., technician, journeyperson apprentice, journeyperson, medical, dermatologist). |
(f) | Discuss why hairstylists may also provide services such as scalp treatments, hair additions and barbering techniques. |
(g) | Discuss why successful hairstylists incorporate technical and interpersonal skills. |
(h) | Demonstrate appropriate scope of practice within hairstyling and esthetics. |
