Indicators
(a) | Identify skin care products and discuss criteria for selection based on alignment with client budget and behaviours (e.g., work outside, stay at home and little or ongoing application of makeup). |
(b) | Compare drugstore products to professional products. |
(c) | Compare ingredient lists of professional products for different skin types. |
(d) | Recognize how allergies and conditions (e.g., pregnancy) could affect product selection. |
(e) | Conduct an inquiry into the question, what is the impact of stripping all the oils from oily skin? |
(f) | Research the environmental impact and sustainability of skin care products and packaging. |
(g) | Investigate what ingredients give products their shelf life. |
(h) | Define potential hydrogen (pH), acidity and alkalinity. |
(i) | Describe procedures for application and removal of skin care products such as cleansers, toners, masks, serums and moisturizers. |
(j) | Critique sun protection factor (SPF) in products including definition, purpose and the impact on skin. |
