(a) | Identify styling aid (e.g., mousse, serum and spray) selection and application needed to achieve desired finish. |
(b) | Examine language used in hairstyling to describe hair textures (e.g., fine, medium, coarse, kinky and curl pattern) and hair characteristics (e.g., elasticity, porosity and density). |
(c) | Discuss the importance of using appropriate industry terminology when describing hair by referencing texture (e.g., fine, medium, coarse, kinky and curl pattern) and characteristics (density, elasticity, porosity). |
(d) | Examine and apply different hair styles (e.g., weaving, knotting, locs, box braids and twists). |
(e) | Execute braiding techniques including visible, invisible and fishtail. |
(f) | Discuss the significance of braiding in First Nations’ cultures. |
(g) | Perform and critique a roller set and comb-out. |
(h) | Demonstrate finger waving and pin-curl technique. |
(i) | Perform and critique blow-dry and curling iron techniques. |
(j) | Discuss and apply appropriate safety measures when using a blow dryer or a curling iron. |
