Investigate and perform advanced manicuring techniques.
Indicators
(a) Explain the purpose of various types of specialized or advanced manicure treatments (e.g., paraffin wax manicure, electric manicure, hot oil manicure and male manicure).
(b) Demonstrate the procedure(s) for giving a specialized or advanced manicure.
(c) Identify, prepare and assemble the products needed to perform gel polish services.
(d) Discuss various gel nail polishes and demonstrate application techniques.
(e) Demonstrate the process of preparing a client for a manicure service.
(f) Execute a manicure with the application of ultraviolet (UV) and light emitting diode (LED) gel polish.
(g) Demonstrate the maintenance and removal of gel nail polish.
(h) Identify safety concerns when using specialized implements, cosmetics and materials.
(i) Explore the use of an electric nail file for performing an electric or e-file manicure.
(j) Demonstrate proper usage of implements, cosmetics and materials required to perform advanced manicuring techniques.
(k) Apply safety and sanitation procedures before, during and after performing a specialized manicure.
