Outcome
Analyze and perform a spa pedicure.
Indicators
(a) Distinguish components of a basic professional pedicure and a spa pedicure.
(b) Explain the purpose of a spa pedicure.
(c) Describe additional supplies needed to perform a spa pedicure.
(d) Describe and demonstrate knowledge and skills related to pre-service for a spa pedicure.
(e) Organize appropriate equipment, implements, materials, supplies and products for a spa pedicure service.
(f) Demonstrate the set-up of a pedicure station.
(g) Conduct client consultation and discuss the pedicure procedure with the client before beginning service.
(h) Describe the benefits (e.g., increase circulation and relaxation) and techniques (e.g., manipulate feet, adjust pressure, repetitions) involved in a foot and leg massage.
(i) Perform steps included in a basic professional pedicure service in addition to spa pedicure services such as a foot scrub, foot mask or paraffin wax.
(j) Explain and apply procedure for applying polish such as clean nails, polish with base, topcoat and cuticle oil.
(k) Apply safety and sanitation procedures while performing a pedicure.
(l) Apply sanitation, disinfection and sterilizations procedures following a pedicure service.
