Module 17A: Mental Health and Well-being (Core)
Module Overview:

Note: Teachers should determine student familiarity with the topic of mental health and well-being for entrepreneurs. This will help determine if they require a review of concepts or more in-depth learning.

Outcome
Assess the importance of positive mental health and well-being for Saskatchewan and Canadian entrepreneurs.
Indicators
(a) Discuss the concept of life/work balance as it relates to entrepreneurs.
(b) Analyze the relationship between an entrepreneur’s personal mental health and well-being and the health of their business.
(c) Identify stressors (e.g., income uncertainty, loneliness and isolation) faced by many entrepreneurs and the resulting impact on self, the business, society and others such as family and friends.
(d) Research statistics related to the mental health and well-being of Canadian entrepreneurs.
(e) Analyze differences in the mental health and well-being challenges faced by various groups of entrepreneurs such as women, newcomers, younger entrepreneurs and individuals who are gender and/or sexually diverse.
(f) Investigate barriers (e.g., cost and stigma) faced by entrepreneurs in seeking mental health services and support.
(g) Suggest strategies (e.g., practising self-care and surrounding oneself with positive influences) for addressing and maintaining positive mental health as an entrepreneur.
(h) Explore the impact of mentoring relationships on mental health and wellbeing.
(i) Identify credible sources of mental health support for Saskatchewan and Canadian entrepreneurs.
