(a)

Critique common misconceptions about entrepreneurs, such as:

  • Entrepreneurs can be successful only if they have access to lots of money.
  • Entrepreneurs set their own hours and vacation schedules.
  • Entrepreneurs work alone.
  • Entrepreneurs take huge risks to be successful.
  • Entrepreneurs are wealthy.
  • All it takes is one good idea to be a successful entrepreneur.
  • Every entrepreneur needs a post-secondary business degree to be successful.
(b) Research typical earnings for entrepreneurs in Saskatchewan and Canada.
(c) Discuss reasons (e.g., media showcasing successful entrepreneurs and increased attention to social entrepreneurship) why entrepreneurship is becoming more widely accepted as a viable career pathway.
(d) Debate the idea that being an entrepreneur is better than working for someone else.
(e) Reflect on personal interest in, and suitability for, entrepreneurship as a career pathway of choice.

Construct a personal plan or a plan for another individual aspiring to be an entrepreneur, considering factors such as

  • a supportive network of allies;
  • membership in, and support from, professional organizations and associations; and,
