DEST24
Module 24: Three-Dimensional Applied Design (Optional)
Outcome
Create a three-dimensional design using the design process.
Indicators
(a) | Review functionality, aesthetics, elegance, timelessness and simplicity as elements of design. |
(b) | Research the developmental history of an existing simple product (i.e., no moving parts), focusing on design elements of elegance, timelessness, functionality and simplicity. |
(c) | Identify the need for a new three-dimensional product. |
(d) | Produce digital or free-hand images illustrating the purpose of a new three-dimensional product. |
(e) | Identify potential materials and connectors for the three-dimensional product. |
(f) | Create a simple prototype of the three-dimensional product. |
(g) |
Document the product development process, including:
|
(h) |
Test the prototype collaboratively to solicit feedback from other design students and potential users of the product, with particular focus upon:
|
(i) | Review feedback and incorporate ideas to improve a revised prototype. |
(j) | Outline time constraints that may exist in the production of a three-dimensional product. |
