Outcome
Evaluate the relationship between function and aesthetics in three-dimensional products.
Indicators
(a) Solve design problems using a variety of materials and processes.
(b) Research the development history of a product and explore how changing the aesthetic characteristics impacts customer perception.
(c) Describe the stages necessary to produce the product commercially.
(d) Examine how changing aesthetics impacts the production process.
(e) Describe alternative materials and processes that might be used for a product to improve:
  • product quality;
  • volume of production;
  • cost per item; and,
  • consumer interaction with the product.
(f) Explain how design factors such as elegance, timelessness, functionality and simplicity have been considered in the development of the three-dimensional design.
