(a)	Define the term prototype and explain various purposes for design prototyping, including: learning (e.g., Does it work? Does it meet the intended need?); communication (e.g., the prototype helps others, such as investors or managers to understand, appreciate and support further development.); integration (i.e., Do all the individual components and systems work when integrated together?); and, illustrating milestones.
(b)	Define the term model and explain the purpose for modelling in the design process.
(c)	Identify critical attributes that differentiate a prototype from a model.
(d)	Describe situations in which either a model or a prototype is an important aspect of the design process.
(e)	Differentiate between a physical and an analytical prototype.
(f)	Describe the benefits of various forms of prototypes, including: concept sketches; mathematical models; simulations; component parts of a product; and, fully functional preproduction versions of a product.
(g)	Speculate on reasons for creating either a comprehensive prototype (e.g., similar in appearance and including most components and attributes of a final product), or a focused prototype (e.g., implementing and testing one or two components and attributes of a final product).
(h)	Create a prototype from a given scenario to illustrate a design process, including: an annotated sketch of a solution to a design problem; two-dimensional and three-dimensional models of the solution to the design problem using digital tools; and, a variety of prototypes to test different elements within the design.
(i)	Critically evaluate the efficacy of design decisions made within the prototype.
(j)	Adapt and refine the design to reflect data gleaned from the testing of prototypes.
(k)	Elicit feedback for a prototype using the terminology of the design process.
