Outcome
Investigate how the forestry industry contributes to the global economy.
Indicators
(a) Describe the different types of forests within Canada (e.g., Acadian, boreal, coastal, Great Lakes–St. Lawrence and subalpine).
(b) Describe how forests affect the earth’s carbon balance.
(c) Research the similarities and differences in forestry practices, policies and procedures in different provinces and countries.
(d) Identify how each area within the forestry industry (e.g., harvesting, reforestation, pulping operations, manufacturing, health and safety) connects to the local, provincial/territorial or global economy.
(e) Discuss the contribution of the boreal forest in Saskatchewan to the local, Canadian and global economies.
(f) Compare different global perspectives on forestry practices, policies and procedures with those in Saskatchewan.
