Explore the relationships in forest ecosystems.
Indicators
(a) Describe the function of the parts of a tree.
(b) Discuss the interrelationships found in tree structures and vital life processes that exist.
(c) Explain the characteristics needed for forest ecosystems to be considered successful.
(d) Identify examples of living and non-living elements (i.e., flora, fauna, soil, water, air and landforms) within the forest ecosystem in Saskatchewan.
(e) Explore how the elements in a forest environment depend on each other.
(f) Describe the types of ecosystems that exist in a forest and how they relate to each other.
(g) Examine First Nations perspective from an Elder or Knowledge Keeper about how the forests have changed over time and the relationships and responsibility we have to Mother Earth.
