Indicators
(a) | Compare historic and current land use patterns and practices in Saskatchewan. |
(b) | Identify different environmental conservation practices. |
(c) | Examine The First Nation and Métis Consultation Policy Framework (which includes the duty to consult) and the consultation process with local communities and Indigenous stakeholders on the environmental impact of a forestry project. |
(d) | Discuss how community-based conservation initiatives can contribute to life-long sustainable use of forests. |
(e) | Explore how concepts such as wâhkôhtowin (e.g., good relationship, kinship and responsibility to all creatures and futures) can shape views on conservation of forests (e.g., beyond respecting nature and recognizing we are part of nature). |
(f) | Explain why there is an increased demand on forest resources by Canadians and the International community. |
(g) | Distinguish between misinformation and sensationalized messaging regarding the forestry industry. |
(h) | Discuss the contribution of local and traditional knowledge on forest management. |
(i) | Research the impact of Woodland Caribou conservation and range planning on forestry. |
