Outcome
Investigate the processes and applications of measuring a forest.
Indicators
(a) Investigate the conducting of a forest survey, the type of information gathered and the purpose for collecting data.
(b) Distinguish between forest samples and forest populations.
(c) Research the goals and techniques for conducting a forestry survey.
(d) Discuss what technology and equipment are used to measure a forest and conduct a forestry survey.
(e) Collect boreal forest measurements (e.g., diameter, circumference and height of trees and distribution of species) accurately and reliably.
(f) Apply appropriate safety procedures and use of equipment when taking forest measurements.
(g) Select appropriate and efficient ways to organize data collection (e.g., chart, table and technology) for analysis.
(h) Analyze collected data to determine the condition and distribution of tree or wildlife species in the forest.
