(a) | Discuss the meaning of land-based learning and its effect on human interactions with the environment (e.g., respecting animals and taking only what is needed). |
(b) | Explore the Indigenous cultural learning opportunities (e.g., petroglyphs, pictographs, rubbing stones, tipi rings and traditional hunting grounds) in land-based learning. |
(c) | Explain the physical benefits of outdoor activities (e.g., improves overall well-being, increases vitamin D, lowers blood pressure and boosts immunity). |
(d) | Investigate the mental benefits of being outside (e.g., helps prevent depression and reduces stress and anxiety). |
(e) | Examine how time spent in nature contributes to managing emotions (e.g., reduces anger and promotes pleasure). |
(f) | Discuss the spiritual benefits of spending time outdoors (e.g., connection to the land and sense of belonging). |
(g) | Research the historical significance of the land upon which classroom excursions take place. |
