sustainable shelter-building techniques.
Indicators
| (a) | Demonstrate mindfulness (e.g., take only what is needed) and gratitude (e.g., offering tobacco) when harvesting materials for shelters. |
| (b) | Compare the differences between building shelters for emergency and recreational situations. |
| (c) | Explore natural environmental features that provide shelter from the elements, such as depressions in the ground, holes from tree roots and lowhanging branches. |
| (d) | Examine factors that affect shelter choice (e.g., number of people requiring shelter, available materials and their cost, weather and animals). |

Demonstrate how to construct various styles of natural shelters, such as:

Experiment with various types of tarp-based shelters, such as:
