(a) | Analyze the diversity in the local community, Saskatchewan and Canada, including cultural and linguistic needs. |
(b) | Reflect on the importance of building positive relationships within the local community as emergency services personnel. |
(c) | Discuss ways in which to build positive relationships in the community as emergency service personnel. |
(d) | Research the potential impact of discrimination based on factors such as ancestry, nationality, creed, gender, sexual orientation and age on the provision of emergency services. |
(e) | Explore strategies (e.g., technology, subscribing to interpretation and translation services) used by emergency services personnel to effectively assist and communicate with individuals from diverse backgrounds and needs. |
(f) | Examine the challenges and opportunities (e.g., cost, availability of translators, time to provide service) that occur when communicating with community members who speak English as an additional language. |
(g) | Discuss the importance of utilizing inclusionary practices when serving the public. |
