Analyze the safe
operation of
emergency vehicles in
Saskatchewan.
Indicators
(a) | Examine the design features of emergency vehicles in Saskatchewan. |
(b) | Research Saskatchewan and Canadian statistics related to incidents, injuries and fatalities resulting from vehicle collisions/mishaps associated with emergency vehicles (e.g., emergency services personnel responding to, returning from, or working at an emergency). |
(c) | Examine provincial and federal laws that protect all emergency services personnel on Saskatchewan roads. |
(d) | Describe a driver’s legal responsibility and response to an emergency vehicle sounding a siren, displaying flashing lights and approaching or stopped on the road in Saskatchewan. |
(e) | Identify usage and meaning of various colours for emergency vehicle lights. |
(f) | Examine conditions that might lead to wake-effect collisions related to emergency vehicles. |
(g) | Research driver qualifications, training requirements and licensing requirements for operating a variety of emergency vehicles including ambulance, fire truck and car in Saskatchewan. |
