Indicators
(a) | Define and apply key anatomical position and directional terms such as anterior, posterior, medial, lateral, superior, inferior. |
(b) | Identify the location of the major structures and primary functions of the eleven human body systems (e.g., respiratory, circulatory, digestive, nervous). |
(c) | Identify the location of the bones in the human skeletal system. |
(d) | Explore the functions of the skeletal system (e.g., protection, movement, formation of blood cells). |
(e) | Identify the location of the major muscles of the human body. |
(f) | Explore the functions of the muscular system (e.g, movement, posture, heat generation). |
(g) | Identify the segments of the spine (e.g., cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacrum, coccyx) and identify the structure and function of each segment of the spine. |
(h) | Examine the impacts of injury on the different segments of the spine. |
(i) | Research procedure and stabilization methods EMS personnel utilize if a spinal injury is suspected. |
(j) | Practise spinal immobilization methods to move patients safely. |
