utilized in Canadian
policing.
Indicators
(a) | Research problem solving models (e.g., STAR, CAPRA) utilized in policing. |
(b) | Define the components of the Incident Management Intervention Model (IMIM)/Use of Force Model. |
(c) | Investigate the role of crisis management and de-escalation management techniques in policing. |
(d) | Demonstrate non-violent crisis management and de-escalation techniques. |
(e) | Discuss the importance of the IMIM/Use of Force Model in policing and ways in which the model changes a police officer’s response. |
(f) | Consider scenarios (e.g., physical threats, verbal threats, addictions, mental health) and responses using the IMIM/Use of Force model. |
(g) | Examine ethical and moral situations police encounter daily in community policing (e.g., respecting confidentiality of community members, policing friends and family). |
