Module 38: Incident Management and Response in Policing (Optional)
Outcome
Assess the skills and
procedures required
to manage a scene
call as a police officer.
Indicators
(a) | Investigate situations (e.g., collisions, human crime, property crime) in which police secure and manage the scene. |
(b) | Determine procedures to secure and preserve evidence at a scene (e.g., photographing evidence, assist collision reconstructionist, etc.). |
(c) | Investigate the basic procedures of documentation, note taking and photographing evidence after an emergency and/or crime scene has been secured. |
(d) | Identify challenges and barriers to evidence preservation (e.g., weather, human interference, time). |
(e) | Explore the roles and responsibilities of specialized police officers (e.g., forensic analyst, collision reconstructionist) at scene calls. |
(f) | Identify situations in which interagency response is required. |
(g) | Examine the role of the Division Emergency Operations Centre (DEOC) when Incident Command System (ICS) is initiated. |
(h) | Demonstrate or describe the procedures of scene call management for a mock collision and/or crime scene. |
