Outcome
Create a public awareness campaign that addresses a community safety concern.
Indicators
(a) Discuss the purpose of a public awareness campaign.
(b) Investigate local, provincial and federal public safety awareness campaigns from various branches of emergency services (e.g., fire, police, EMS).
(c) Describe the characteristics (e.g., clearly defined goal(s) or outcomes; a well-defined target audience; specific actions requested of the target audience; plans for measuring success) of a successful awareness campaign or program.
(d) Identify a community safety concern (e.g., proper installation and use of car seats, sun safety, snowmobile safety, pedestrian crossing safety, texting and driving, vehicle or home emergency kits, fire extinguishers in the home).
(e) Explore different media methods utilized for public safety campaigns, such as social media, newspaper and radio advertising and billboard advertising.
(f) Create a public awareness campaign that address a community safety concern.
