Jenneli's Dance
This picture book tells the story of Jenneli, a young girl who feels she is not special until her grandmother teaches her the Métis Red River Jig. Jenneli has fun dancing with her grandmother until the day that Grandma Lucee enters her in a jig contest. Fiddle Dancer = Li daanseur de vyaeloon
Nolin visits his grandfather on New Year's Eve and together they are jigging at the community dance. Moushoom shows off his fancy steps and Nolin believes he will never learn the fancy steps. Moushoom explains that his Ma Mayr tapped the beat while he was in her womb and continue to tap the beat while he was growing up. Moushoom teaches Nolin some fancy steps and gives Nolin a Métis sash to "make his feet fly." Soon Nolin is doing three fancy steps.
Included in the book is a glossary of Michif words and a recipe to make bannock.
Accompanying the book is a CD with an English and Michif narration of the story.

Secret of the Dance
In 1935, Watl'kina's family holds a forbidden Potlatch in Kingcome Inlet. Watl'kina slips from his bed to watch. In the Big House, he sees masked figures dancing by firelight to the beat of the drum. As he watches, Watl'kina notices a figure he knows. It is the only time Watl'kina sees his father dance. The story is based on an incident in the life of retired judge Alfred Scow, Elder of the Kwick'wa'sut'eneiuk, one of the Kwakwa'ka'wakw Nations. The historical note at the back of the book provides some background information on the law forbidding First Nations people to hold ceremonies.

Krystle Pederson is a traditional jigger and Métis dance instructor. In Métis Jigging Part 2, Krystle talks about different styles of fiddle music and how jigging steps are incorporated into other styles of dance. Through demonstrations and practise, students build on the skills and knowledge gained in Part 1. Krystle introduces new jigging steps with an emphasis on travelling and working with a partner.
