(a) explains a procedure: describes what is done and why, such as how and why people heat their drums before they play, or why tobacco is left in the ground when resources are utilized from the land;
(b) describes events and experiences in logical progression, such as how birch syrup is gathered in spring, or how to set a fish net, or how different groups of people interacted with one another on the plains and in the north; and,
(c) outlines similarities and differences between people, objects or situations; e.g., compare the Michif and Cree terms.
