Outcome
Explore types of work.
Indicators
(a) Differentiate between types of work such as full-time, part-time, seasonal, contract, gig, casual, shift, self-employment, entrepreneurship and volunteer.
(b) Discuss when and why individuals might engage in each type of work.
(c) Generate a list of jobs in one’s community and classify them according to the types of work.
(d) Discuss how being employed or volunteering supports positive mental health and engaged citizenship.
(e)

Reflect on questions such as:

  • Why do people work?
  • Why do people choose a particular occupation?
  • What are my career goals and how will I achieve them?
  • Why do I want to or not want to pursue a particular career?
(f) Research the concept of non-traditional careers and provide examples relevant to one’s community, province and country.
