Outcome
Analyze components of a pay stub.
Indicators
(a) Differentiate among the various types of pay periods for employees such as weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly and monthly, and discuss their impact on personal budgeting.
(b) Discuss methods of payment such as direct deposit, cash and cheque.
(c)

Identify the information that must be listed on a pay stub or statement of earnings as required by law (i.e., Part II Employment Standards in The Saskatchewan Employment Act, 2019).

(d) Differentiate among deductions that are required (i.e., income tax, Canadian Pension Plan and Employment Insurance), allowable (e.g., employee contributions to pension plans; charitable donations voluntarily made by an employee; and volunteer employee purchases from the employer for goods, services or merchandise) and illegal (e.g., deductions for alleged theft, damages, breakages and poor quality work).
(e) Calculate gross pay for various earning situations such as contract, hourly and commission.
(f) Identify strategies for dealing with a payroll error.
