Explore the transportation industry and its interrelatedness to other industries within the tourism sector.
Indicators
(a) List modes of transportation (e.g., airplanes, taxis, personal vehicles, trains, limousines and ride sharing) typically found within the transportation industry.
(b) Identify modes of transportation available within the community and surrounding area and/or province.
(c) Examine the interrelatedness among the transportation industry and other tourism industries.
(d) Discuss factors (e.g., price, availability, personal preference, availability, accessibility, distance and duration of trip) that determine a traveller’s choice for a mode of transportation.
(e) Analyze the challenges associated with urban and rural transport systems in Saskatchewan.
(f) Explore trends (e.g., sharing economy) that have impacted or may impact the transportation industry.
(g) Discuss the impact (e.g., economic and other) of unforeseen events such as a global pandemic, natural disaster (e.g., earthquake or tornado) or man- made catastrophe (e.g., 9/11) on the transportation industry.
