(a) Discuss the concept of market research and why it is important (e.g., informs decisions about the viability of a proposed business idea) for the success of any entrepreneurial venture.
(b) Reflect on the statement, ‘Failing to plan is planning to fail.’ which is attributed to Benjamin Franklin.
(c) Discuss the purpose of a business plan.
(d) Brainstorm a list of questions that are generally answered through the development of a business plan.

Examine common sections of a business plan such as:

  • Executive Summary;
  • Business Description;
  • Vision, Mission and Goals;
  • Market Research and Analysis;
  • Marketing Strategy;
  • Operations Plan;
  • Ownership and Management; and,
  • Financial Plan.
