Outcome
Explore skills, tools and strategies that support the job search process for employment in the tourism sector.
Indicators
(a) Research sources of employment/job postings for positions in tourism locally, provincially, nationally and globally.
(b) Discuss the role of networking in supporting a successful job search.
(c) Develop or modify personal career artifacts (e.g., documents such as a cover letter and resume) to suit the needs of a job application for a specific job in the tourism sector.
(d)

Prepare for a job interview by:

  • researching the potential employer/organization;
  • reflecting on personal suitability for the available position;
  • developing a list of, and answers for, questions commonly asked during an interview;
  • developing a list of questions to ask the interviewer; and,
  • listing what to do and what not to do during a job interview.
(e) Discuss the importance of follow-up and describe steps that can be taken to properly follow up after a job interview.
(f) Identify the skills, attitudes and behaviours necessary for retaining a job.
