Module 4: Goal Setting (Core)
Outcome
Explore how goal-setting supports achievement.
Indicators
(a) Discuss the importance of setting goals and of personal accountability for achieving those goals.
(b) Explore reasons (e.g., unexpected events, health emergency, loss of employment, changing priorities) for adjusting goals.
(c) Debate the value of adjusting rather than abandoning a goal.
(d) Research the characteristics of various goal-setting models.
(e) Create a personally relevant SMART (i.e., specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-based) goal and monitor progress.
(f) Develop an action plan to achieve a SMART goal.
(g) Analyze tools such as vision boards, bucket lists, journaling and action plans that can assist with setting goals, achieving goals and/or accountability.
(h) Identify short and long-term goals (e.g., personal, career, family/relationship, financial) for achieving a desired lifestyle.
(i) Share goals and plan with a supportive person (e.g., Elder, family member, teacher, peer) to receive feedback.
(j) Reflect on feedback received and adjust goals and plans accordingly.
