Outcome
Investigate the importance of physical safety to health and well-being.
Indicators
(a) Identify potential risks to physical safety as a result of emergencies and natural disasters (e.g., wildfire or grassfire nearing community, house fire due to unsafe cooking habits, imminent tornado or flooding).
(b) Discuss ways to ensure fire safety in a variety of home and social situations (e.g., safe barbecuing and cooking tips, appropriate fire extinguishing, electrical safety).
(c) Describe emergency preparedness for a variety of scenarios such as severe weather, power outages and fires.
(d) Explain how to access emergency and fire safety information and communications (e.g., highway hotline, weather channel, SaskAlert, emergency phone numbers, muster points) during an event.
(e) Research the possible effects or consequences (e.g., injury, loss of property, death) of being unprepared for a variety of possible emergencies.
