Outcome
Investigate the importance of physical safety to health and well-being.
Indicators
(a) | Identify potential risks to physical safety as a result of emergencies and natural disasters (e.g., wildfire or grassfire nearing community, house fire due to unsafe cooking habits, imminent tornado or flooding). |
(b) | Discuss ways to ensure fire safety in a variety of home and social situations (e.g., safe barbecuing and cooking tips, appropriate fire extinguishing, electrical safety). |
(c) | Describe emergency preparedness for a variety of scenarios such as severe weather, power outages and fires. |
(d) | Explain how to access emergency and fire safety information and communications (e.g., highway hotline, weather channel, SaskAlert, emergency phone numbers, muster points) during an event. |
(e) | Research the possible effects or consequences (e.g., injury, loss of property, death) of being unprepared for a variety of possible emergencies. |
