Module 9: Documentation for Life (Optional)
Outcome
Investigate processes required to acquire documentation to support living and working in Saskatchewan.
Indicators
(a) Recognize circumstances when documentation and identification are required in Saskatchewan (e.g., employment applications, rental applications, purchase of vehicles or homes, international travel).
(b) Identify necessary information and costs associated with acquiring or changing documentation and identification to support living and working in Saskatchewan (e.g., birth certificate, health card, Certificate of Indian Status, social insurance number).
(c) Evaluate methods (e.g., safety deposit boxes, secure wallets) and policies (e.g., The Privacy Act) to protect documents and personal information.
(d) Examine common application forms (e.g., rental accommodations, insurance, job applications, utilities) and identify conventions and terms used (e.g., caps, signatures, maiden name) and information required to correctly complete the forms.
(e) Practise correctly completing a variety of common application forms.
(f) Research government and community services and supports available to aid in acquisition, replacement or alteration of necessary personal information or documentation.
(g) Research age of consent with respect to entering various legal agreements
(h) Conduct an inquiry into types of digital privacy breaches (e.g., hacking, stolen personal information, stolen passwords) and prevention strategies (e.g., shredding personal documents, detail in passwords, avoiding phishing scams).
