Outcome
Explore self-care resources, services and products available in Saskatchewan.
Indicators
(a) | Identify self-care resources, services and products available in the community. |
(b) | Examine situations (e.g., headache, missed menstrual cycle, depression) when care is required including life-threatening situations and long-lasting or unusual symptoms. |
(c) | Explore resources (e.g., emergency room visit, extended hours medical clinic, pharmacist consultation, family doctor, HealthLine 811) to access medical attention and the processes to obtain these services. |
(d) | Describe possible self-care actions (e.g., exercise program, nutrition plans, sleep plans) and benefits and challenges of these actions. |
(e) | Describe possible self-care products and the benefits and challenges of these products. |
(f) | Investigate the eligibility requirements, claims processes and services (e.g vision, dental, prescription) available through the provincial government health insurance plan, federal programs (i.e., Non-Insured Health Benefits Program and Interim Federal Health Program) and private or employerfunded health insurance plans. |
(g) | Identify skills required to self-advocate when accessing health-care products and services (e.g., developing health care directives, indicating organ donation wishes, researching alternatives, gaining second opinions). |
