Outcome
Analyze the components of suicide and self-harm prevention.
Indicators
(a) Discuss risk factors (e.g., mental wellness, social, stress, social disconnection) related to suicidal ideation and completion.
(b) Identify the warning signs that may be associated with suicide (e.g., isolation, disinterest in activities, giving away possessions).
(c) Research ways to provide peer support to a friend who needs help (e.g., learn the suicide warning signs, listen without judgement, seek help from an adult).
(d) Differentiate between self-harm and suicide.
(e) Investigate how specific strategies (e.g., mindfulness, positive connections, inner purpose) help develop resilience.
(f) Compile a collection of local and provincial supports for people coping with self-harm urges or suicidal thoughts.
(g) Investigate challenges (e.g., guilt, shame, stigma) a person who has lost a loved one by suicide faces and supports they can access for help.
