Outcome
Investigate the effects of addiction on the health and well-being of individuals and community.
Indicators
(a) | Discuss various types of substance and behavioural addictions (e.g., gambling, drugs and alcohol, vaping, social media). |
(b) | Analyze the effects of addiction on everyday life (e.g., physical health, mental health, personal finances). |
(c) | Identify the potential impacts of the overuse of social media (e.g., mental wellness, anxiety, depression, negative effect, cyber bullying, quality of sleep) on self, individual and community well-being. |
(d) | Inquire into biological factors (e.g., genetics, mental illness, age) that can contribute to risk of addiction. |
(e) | Explore reasons why (e.g., relaxation, trauma, curiosity) an individual might choose to consume addictive substances. |
(f) | Identify signs and symptoms of addiction. |
(g) | Examine the characteristics of resilience and how it can help prevent or mitigate addiction. |
