Indicators
(a) | Explore individual rights and responsibilities related to citizenship in Canada’s Charter of Rights and Freedoms. |
(b) | Analyze responsibilities related to citizenship (e.g., obeying the law, paying taxes, serving on a jury, knowing local treaty territory and history, recognizing the spirit and intent of treaties, participating in local community) as a treaty person and Canadian citizen. |
(c) | Examine one’s position regarding the importance of the treaty relationship for the social, cultural and economic prosperity of all Saskatchewan and Canadian people. |
(d) | Identify the criteria and processes (e.g., age for voting, registering to vote) involved in voting in municipal, provincial and federal elections in Canada. |
(e) | Identify the criteria and processes (e.g., membership, age) involved in voting in First Nations and Métis elections. |
(f) | Discuss types (e.g., Goods and Services (GST), property, income) and purposes of various local, provincial and federal taxes. |
